What Peek does

Peek helps you check what's inside a book before you read it. Scan a book's barcode or search by title, and Peek shows the book's content report — a set of dimensions like violence, profanity, and romance, each described as a level. Your iPhone then scores that report against the preferences you set, entirely on the device. Your preferences and results stay yours: there are no accounts, and what the app does send off-device — the book lookup itself and App Store purchase receipts — is described in our privacy policy.

What content reports are — and aren't

Content reports are compiled from many published sources and automated analysis. They are informational, and they can be incomplete, out of date, or wrong: editions differ, sources disagree, and no catalog covers every book.

Two things follow from that, and they matter enough to say plainly. First, the absence of a warning is never a guarantee of absence — where Peek lacks the data to score a dimension, it tells you so rather than guessing, and you should treat “unknown” as unknown. Second, a match score describes how a report lines up with the preferences you chose — it is not a rating of a book's quality or worth, and it is not a substitute for your own judgment. If a content question is critical for you or your family, verify it yourself before relying on it.

Permissions

Peek asks for one iOS permission: the camera, used only to read book barcodes live on the device. It is optional — you can search by title instead — and you can revoke it anytime in the iPhone Settings app. The details are in our privacy policy.

Purchases

Peek Pro is an auto-renewing subscription, offered weekly or yearly; the yearly plan starts with a 7-day free trial. Billing is handled entirely by Apple through your App Store account under Apple's payment terms, and prices are shown in the app before you buy. Your subscription renews automatically unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the end of the current period — cancel during the free trial and you pay nothing. Manage or cancel anytime in your App Store settings (Settings → your name → Subscriptions). Refunds are handled by Apple under Apple's policies. We never see your payment details.

Don't do this

Please don't:

• scrape, bulk-download, or redistribute content reports or any other data from the service;
• reverse engineer, decompile, or tamper with the app;
• use Peek for anything illegal;
• misrepresent Peek's reports as our judgment of a book or its author — they are neither.

No guarantees

We work hard on Peek, but it's provided “as is.” It may have bugs, reports may contain errors or gaps, and coverage of the world's books will always be a work in progress. To the maximum extent the law allows, we disclaim warranties of any kind.

If something goes wrong

To the extent permitted by law, Rae Legacy LLC's total liability to you for any claim related to Peek is limited to the amount you paid us for the app in the twelve months before the claim. We are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages — including decisions you make based on a content report; see the section on what reports are and aren't, above.

We might update these terms

If we change these terms, we'll post the new version on this page and update the date at the top. Material changes will be called out in the app. Using Peek after a change means you accept the updated terms.

Termination

You can stop using Peek anytime — deleting the app deletes your data with it. We may stop providing the app or its updates if these terms are violated or the product is discontinued.

Legal stuff

These terms are governed by Florida law. If there's ever a legal dispute, that's where it gets handled. If any part of these terms is found unenforceable, the rest stays in effect. As an App Store app, Peek is licensed to you under Apple's standard End User License Agreement, which these terms supplement; Apple is not a party to these terms but may enforce them as a third-party beneficiary.
