BibleGate Privacy Policy

Last updated: January 23, 2026

This Privacy Policy describes how BibleGate (“we”, “us”, or “our”), developed by Rae Legacy LLC, collects, uses, and protects your information when you use our mobile application.

BibleGate is designed to help you build consistent Bible reading habits by blocking distracting apps until you spend time in Scripture. This policy explains the specific data practices unique to BibleGate.

Information We Collect

Screen Time & App Usage Data

BibleGate uses Apple's Screen Time API (Family Controls framework) to provide app blocking functionality. This allows us to:

  • Display a list of apps installed on your device for you to select which ones to block
  • Apply shields (blocking screens) to your selected apps when your Time Bank is empty
  • Remove shields when you earn unlock time by reading

Important: We do not collect, store, or transmit information about which specific apps you have installed or use. App selection tokens are stored locally on your device only and are never sent to our servers. Apple's Family Controls framework is designed to protect your privacy—app identities are represented as opaque tokens that cannot be reverse-engineered.

Bible Reading Activity

We store the following data locally on your device:

  • Reading progress (chapters and verses read)
  • Quiz results and scores
  • Time Bank balance (minutes earned and spent)
  • Streak data (consecutive days of reading)
  • Journey progress (completed sections and chapters)

This data is stored using Apple's SwiftData framework and remains on your device. It is not synced to external servers.

Subscription Information

If you subscribe to BibleGate Pro, your purchase is processed through Apple's App Store. We use RevenueCat, a third-party service, to manage subscription status. RevenueCat receives:

  • An anonymous user identifier
  • Subscription status and purchase history
  • Device type and app version

We do not have access to your payment information—this is handled entirely by Apple.

Third-Party Services

RevenueCat

We use RevenueCat to manage in-app subscriptions. RevenueCat's privacy policy can be found at: https://www.revenuecat.com/privacy

Convex

We use Convex as our backend service to cache and serve quiz questions. When you take a quiz, we may send the Bible chapter reference to generate contextually relevant questions. No personal information is sent to Convex.

Google Gemini AI

Quiz questions are generated using Google's Gemini AI. We send only Bible chapter references and text to generate questions. No personal information is included in these requests. Google's privacy policy can be found at: https://policies.google.com/privacy

Data Storage

BibleGate is designed with a privacy-first approach. The majority of your data is stored locally on your device:

  • Local Storage: Reading progress, quiz results, Time Bank balance, streak data, blocked app selections, and user preferences are all stored on your device using SwiftData.
  • App Groups: Some data is shared between the main app and system extensions (for shield functionality) using Apple's App Groups. This data never leaves your device.
  • Cloud Storage: Only quiz cache data is stored on our Convex backend to improve performance. This does not include any personal information.

Notifications

With your permission, BibleGate may send local notifications to:

  • Remind you to read daily
  • Alert you when your Time Bank is running low
  • Protect your reading streak
  • Deliver the Verse of the Day

These notifications are generated locally on your device and do not require sending data to external servers.

Data Deletion

Since your data is stored locally on your device, you can delete it by uninstalling the BibleGate app. This will remove all locally stored data including your reading progress, streaks, and preferences.

If you have an active subscription, you can manage or cancel it through your Apple ID settings.

Children's Privacy

BibleGate is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us so we can take appropriate action.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new policy on this page and updating the “Last updated” date.
